Greenfield Conservation Commission Minutes
August 20, 2003

Members attending: Karla Allen, Ray Cilley, Karen Day, Dario Carrara, Marilyn Fletcher, Roger Lessard, David Voymas

The board held a general discussion of the status of the railroad line coming through Greenfield. Karen reported that 75% of the basal area has been cut by Zephyr Lake.  She met with Ken Englund, who is the Federal Rail Inspector, and he will inform the rail operators that no further clearing should be done in the shoreline area.

Karen also reported that the State DES and DOT will be working on a standard for railway roads to follow when clearing in shoreline areas.

Southwest Regional Planning has completed the maps for the town. We are waiting for a large format set.

Neil Brown is requesting to be an alternate.  He owns property abutting Sunset Lake.

Dave O’Hara presented a Minimum Impact Application for a proposed subdivision on Forest Road, Map R4, Lot 3. The proposed impact is 557 sq ft for a driveway to access the building area of the proposed lot. He has flagged wetlands on the entire parcel.  The Board agreed to meet Sunday, August24 at 10:00 am to walk the property. The Board kept a copy of the application and a copy of the survey.

Selectmen have asked the Board to inspect a culvert located at 172 Zephyr Lake Road, Map R9, Lot 79.  It was reported to the Selectmen that the culvert was installed without a permit.  The Board will meet at 9:30 am on August 24, to inspect the site.

The Conservation Commission meetings will move to the 2nd Wednesday of each month, effective immediately.

Marilyn dropped off a draft of a proposed Open Space Ordinance for the town of Greenfield, and asked for input from the Board.

A Standard Dredge and Fill application from the State of NH DOT for a culvert under the railroad line, approximately 1/2 mile south of Soapstone Road.

Results of the E. coli tests for Zephyr and Sunset Lakes

Notification of a Site Specific Application submitted to the NH DES from Brian Hall for reclamation of a gravel pit on Forest Road. Total area of disturbance is 115,000 sq ft.

A letter from the NH DES asking for testing of lake water. Karen will call them to request more information.

A Memo from Deb Nutting about a Wellness Interest Survey.
